Khaya Dragon Cane

$600.00

Description

The three-piece, “convertible,” Khaya Dragon Cane is 34″ tall, and the full staff is 57″ tall. It is a hiking stick, topped with a beautifully carved dragon, that breaks down into two sections, approximately 33″ (bottom section) and 24″ (top section) in length. Or, a Khaya carved cane handle can be substituted for the top section of the staff to create a hand-carved walking cane.

A soft black bag is included to store the cane handle within, so it is not damaged when using the stick as a hiking staff.

The staff is easily broken down into two sections (three, including the cane handle) for travel, and the purchase includes bags to protect both the staff and the cane handle while traveling.

The bottom section of the hiking stick is made from salvaged reclaimed Cuban Mahogany (Swietenia mahogany). The top section of the staff is carved from reclaimed African Mahogany (Khaya), and the cane handle is also carved from Khaya.

Both sections of the hiking staff were carved using a Dremel, with a vine and leaves wrapping around the stick’s length and a carved dragon at the top of each section of the walking stick. Shading was then added using a wood-burning tool, followed by multiple coats of Total Boat high gloss varnish for weather-resistant protection that will last for years and years.

The bottom of the dragon cane is covered with a rubber boot that reveals a hidey-hole approximately 1.5 inches deep by 5/8 inches in diameter.

Whether you are walking down the street or hiking through a mountain forest, do it in style with this beautifully carved heirloom piece that you can pass on to your children or grandchildren.
